Last week travel guru Lonely Planet announced it’s ‘Best in Travel’ lists for the forthcoming year and it was a great score for my home nation. Belfast and The Causeway Coast, came in at first place for 2018’s Top Regions to visit and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Whilst Ireland is well established with foreign travellers, the northern region has often been by-passed due to the late troubles of the past. However, today Northern Ireland is a very different place, and behind all the bad press, the region’s best kept secrets have remained largely uncovered, waiting for their time in the spotlight and it seems that the time is now.

I make no secret about the pride I hold for my home country and am always pleased to see it getting the positive coverage it deserves. Beyond the political landscape, Northern Ireland is a vastly diverse region, steeped in myth and legend. From scenic country roads to beguiling coastal drives, the causeway coast offers plenty for the visiting tourist to uncover. Meanwhile, Belfast has quickly become renowned for its home-grown food scene and is seen today as a diverse cultural hub-bub for locals and visitors alike.

Don’t just take my word for it though, find out for yourself!
